(Jan 16) There is a bit of erosion on the track at Cosy Corner after heavy rains exposing some limestone jump ups. Boranup Forest & Bobs Hollow consist of easy forestry tracks that will require ground clearance.
The tracks around Mandalay Beach are maintained by CALM and volunteers. Hill climbs are enhanced using old railway sleepers and rubber matting. All the tracks are black sugar sand so low tyre pressures are important.
The Coodamurrup Beach track is very good only getting soft as you ascend the first dune at MT28. The Fish Creek track entails crossing the creek and some hill climbs with woop de doos. There is a creek crossing on Chesapeake rd that may become impassable. There are alternative routes via Deeside Coast rd or Gardiner River rd.
The Summertime track starts about 10km south of Northcliffe and is 16km north of Windy Harbour. The track is closed from June to October or when unseasonal wet weather strikes (Locked Gate). The track will bring you out at the southern end of the Warren beach. From the southern point of the beach it is about 10km to the Meerup River, then 4.5km to the Calcup Hill exit point. A further 6km will bring you to the Yeagarup Dunes exit. Be aware that there are 2 river crossing to achieve this.
The two access tracks are very steep hill climbs. In summer these may be very soft due to the lack of moisture in the sand. Letting your tyres down to low pressures (10-12lbs)is required. Crossing either of the rivers should only be attempted in summer, with a degree of previous experience.
